Torrey suffered a seizure in 2012 which led to the discovery of lesions up and down his spinal cord. He holds multiple degrees including a Masters in theology from Boston University. He enjoys asking the deep, sometimes unanswerable questions about life and his injury has focused him on considering ways in which we might make all of society a space in which all people feel they have a stake physically mentally and emotionally. He works out 4 to 6 hours a day including attending journey forward two days a week. He also teaches a teen class on Sundays at Harvard Memorial Church and is working to become a substitute teacher after the new year. Over the last month he has seen considerable improvements in his ability to walk the entire distance around the Journey Forward gym with a walker by decreasing the time it takes by 13 seconds over only his last eight sessions.
